What does low battery mean? If my
battery is low, will it set off my alarm?
All hardwired alarm systems have a
rechargeable battery located in the main panel where all the wires are run to. Under normal
conditions most rechargeable batteries last four or five years. Your alarm system regularly makes load tests of your battery.. If your battery does not pass the load test, a "low battery" warning will be displayed on your keypad.
In the event of a power failure a low battery will not keep your alarm system working. A low battery may cause a false alarm if the power fails. Wireless
alarms have a battery in each transmitter. Customers with a wireless alarm should call for service to allow Fidelity to remotely check your system to determine which transmitter has a low battery. A good practice to follow is to replace all the
batteries in your wireless system when the first transmitter reports a low
battery. Some alarm systems use a radio transmitter to back up the telephone line. Customers with a radio transmitter should call for service when a low battery warning is displayed on
the keypad.
Why can't I arm my alarm system?
There are
two reasons why an alarm may not be able to be armed. The first is, your
keypad maybe displaying the alarm history of previous activations. Simply
enter your user code and push the off key. The second item to check is for
an open zone. Check your keypad for a solid green ready light. If you do
not have a solid green ready light there is an open zone in your system.
Push the ready key found in the lower left hand corner of your keypad. The
display will inform you what zone is open and needs to be closed to arm
your system. If you are unable to correct the open zone, bypassing the
zone is necessary. To bypass a zone, enter your user code followed by the
bypass key and the two or three digit zone number displayed on your
keypad. Once all the open zones are closed or bypass, your system will be
ready to arm. For more complete instructions on using your alarm, download
a copy of the owners manual for your alarm panel. ( Enter a link to
